"Although we are a newcomer, our target for the 2014 general elections is gaining the most votes and take over control over the government. We even want to bag more than 50 percent of the vote," Suparwoto, vice chairman of Nasdem`s central executive board, said here Thursday.
He said Nasdem Party`s ideal was to bring about "restoration" in the country and to be able to do so , "we absolutely must win the general elections."
"We need not only just to win but we must emerge as a single majority or bag more than 50 percent of the vote," he said.
Nasdem was now building up its organizational structure which would have committees at as low a level as polling station neighborhoods.
"The Nasdem Party is now the most solid political party. We now have branches in the country`s 33 provinces and 497 districts or cities. We also already have executive committees in 94 percent of the country`s sub districts," Parwoto said
Meanwhile, Nasdem Party central executive board chairman Patrice Rio Capella said the party would officially declare its existence next July 26 in Jakarta.
After the declaration, the party leadership would register the Nasdem Party officially with the Law and Human Rights Ministry to meet one of the administrative requirements to participate in the general elections.
Patrice said Nasdem would then work to recruit as many as 10 million people into its membership until late 2011 and prepare itself all out to win the 2014 general elections. (*)
