South Korea trailed behind in the second place with US$1.969 billion, Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Statistics Office Johni Anwar said here on Friday.
Taiwan ranked third with US$989 million, he said.
East Kalimantan`s exports in the January-April 2011 period consisted of oil and gas worth US$5.145 billion and non-oil/non-gas exports valued at US$5.218 billion, he said.
In April 2011 alone, the province`s oil and gas exports rose 24.88 percent to US$1.82 billion from US$1.24 billion a month earlier. Overall, exports in April increased 46.31 percent from the month before, he said.
Non-oil/non-gas exports in April increased 3.23 percent to US$1.27 billion from US$1.23 billion in March.
He said mineral fuels played a great role in contributing to the exports in January-April 2011 period, with coal exports soaring 95.30 percent to US$9.88 billion.
Inorganic chemicals came in second with US$0.14 billion, up 1.37 percent, and wood and wooden products in third place with US$0.12 billion, up 1.15 percent.
He said mineral fuel exports in the year ended April fluctuated, reaching US$2.35 billion in January, US$2.20 billion in February, US$2.42 billion in March and US$2.90 billion in April.
Inorganic chemical exports meanwhile stood at US$12 million in January, US$50 million in February, US$0.13 million in March and Arpil US$78 million. Overall, inorganic chemical exports over the period totaled US$141 million. (*)
