They unfurl posters of demands at the end of the roads leading to the PLTU project in Bunton.
The working group coordinator Darmawan said demands had been made to the contractors of the project.
"We are acting on behalf of the residents demanding the repair of the roads damaged by the big vehicles of the project, including Jalan Laut on the 3.5-km long Adipala-Bunton road, and Jalan Wiling on the one kilometer long Adipala-Wlahar road," he said.
He said his side had blocked the Penggalang-Bunton road because the contractors still owed the local suppliers some Rp800 million.
In addition, he said, the working group wished to make sure there would be employment opportunities for the local residents at the project.
"Our demands that we have made some time ago had not been met. Therefore we urged the initiators and those responsible for the PLTU project, namely state power company PT PLN to go down into the field and accommodate the interest of the local residents," he said.
He added that the action to block the road will be done for four days until there is a response to the demands of the residents.
He said the working group along with the residents will also launch a demonstration to the Adipala sub-district administration or Cilacap regency administration is their demands were still not met.
"As long as the demands had not been met, there will be no activities of the project using Jalan Laut, Jalan Wiling, and the main road of the PLTU project, namely the Penggalang-Bunton road," he said.
