Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government has asked premium car makers marketing their products in the country to also use local contents.

"Industrialists are expected to also take care of local contents and use them more including in their premium products," deputy minister of industry Alex Retraubun, said in a Mercedez-Benz Automotive Symposium at the 19th Indonesia International Motor Show 2011 here on Tuesday.

Indonesia, he said, is expected to be the world`s 14th biggest economy in 2014.

With its gross domestic product reaching US$1,206 million and economic growth and inflation rate being maintained and population the world`s fourth biggest Indonesia will be a good automotive products market.

He said not only sales but car exports are also expected to increase.

He said he hoped the people`s increasing buying power would also increase premium car sales at home and exports to ASEAN countries.

In view of that he hoped there would be a hike in vendor industries including parts industries in the country.

He said the government`s short-and medium-term focus in the automotive industry is multi purpose vehicle and low cost green car development.

In the long term the focus will be strengthening spare parts industries and human resource development, he said.

He said the government would improve facilities in bonded zones and develop research and development including improving laboratories for researches, electricity and an exclusive car seaport.
