They do have passports, but the problem is with their visas, because they are holding tourist visas,"Surabaya, E Java (ANTARA News) - The Surabaya Special First Class Immigration Office will deport 34 Chinese nationals for visa violations.
"The aim of the visit in Surabaya is not clear and they have no jobs Surabaya. No one pay for their life cost. So, we have decided to deport them," Muhammad Desri, an official of the Surabaya immigration office, said here on Monday.
The Chinese nationals had earlier been grilled by the Surabaya police as witnesses in fraud and blackmailing cases.
They have stayed in Surabaya for the last two or three months, and what they have done so far just sleep and eat with no jobs. They are holding tourist visas with limited stay duration.
"They do have passports, but the problem is with their visas, because they are holding tourist visas," he said.
Their deportation will be conducted in two stages. Some 27 people will be sent back to China on Tuesday Morning (August 2). Of the 27 people, 14 will take an airplane through Cengkareng airport in Jakarta, and 13 through Surabaya airport.
The remaining seven Chinese nationals will be deported on Wednesday (August 3).
"Part of the travel cost will be born by the Chinese embassy. They will be deported on Tuesday and Wednesday," Desri said.
The Surabaya Police`s investigation unit chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Indarto said the status of the 34 Chinese nationals were victim witnessed.
The police were still investigating an alleged fraud case involving someone identified by his initial A in Jakarta.
"A had brought (the 34 Chinese nationals) here. But we are still investigating the case and has not issued a warrant," Indarto said.
The 34 foreigners consist of 22 men and 12 women. (*)
