Canberra (ANTARA/Xinhua-OANA) - Two young Australians on Tuesday said they hope to become first people to walk from the edge of the Antarctic to the South Pole and back again.

In 100 years of polar exploration, no one has ever managed to achieve this feat, which borders on the limit of human endurance.

James Castrission (29) and Justin Jones (28) have been friends since school. In 2008, they made history when they became the first people by kayak from Australia to New Zealand.

This time, their journal will be two months later, and the adventure is expected to take three months and will cover more than 2000Km.

"This is going to be the biggest adventure Justin and I have ever undertaken, bigger than crossing the Tasman," Castrission told Australia Associated Press on Tuesday.

"We have been preparing for this for three years."

One of the many challenges they face will be to consume enough food to try to limit body weight losses.
