The president noted the world was facing uncertainties due to the debt crisis that hit some European countries and the United States, and social crisis in the Middle East and North Africa.
The president also spotlighted the crisis that was still overshadowing Japan after being hit by a tsunami and other international concerns such as the fluctuation of food and energy prices.
Responding to the situation, Yudhoyono asked all Indonesians to be more aware of every possibility that could happen in the future.
"I have asked all government officials to increase awareness to tackle the negative impacts of the global uncertainties," said Yudhoyono.
The president said Indonesia had prepared some policy instruments to anticipate the impact of the global crisis. "We are confident that we can handle the impact of the crisis," he said.
Yudhoyono explained that in 2008`s crisis, Indonesia with all its hard work from every element of the people and sufficient economic policies had managed to survive the impact of the crisis.
"We hope that we can repeat the same success story when facing the current crisis," he said.
The annual state address delivered on Tuesday (August 16) at the House of Representatives` office building. The event is attended by Vice President Boediono, Chairman of People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Taufik Kiemas, ministers from Indonesia United II cabinet, members of the House of Representatives and the MPR.
