Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the government had set Rp168.1 trillion capital expenditure in the 2012 Draft State Budget for the development of infrastructure, including energy, food resilience and communications infrastructure.

"We design the increase in the capital expenditure for supporting infrastructure development, including energy, food resilience and communications infrastructure," the President said his state of the nation address on the 2912 Draft State Budget and Financial Notes before the House of Representatives Plenary Session here on Tuesday.

The president said that the matter needed to be made as part of the effort to support and increase the development of inter-regional connectivity.

He said that in the 2012 Draft Stage Budget the allocation for capital expenditure was set at Rp168.1 trillion, up Rp27.2 trillion or 19.3 percent from the 2011 revised state budget.

The Head of State said that the government was planning to increase the country`s inter-regional connectivity so that the capital expenditure was planned among others to build railways networks with a total length of 150 kms, rehabilitate 116 airports, buid 14 new airports in various places in the country.

"We will keep a balance in the development of even infrastructure in parts of Indonesia," the president said.

In order to overcome infrastructure blockage and increase the inter-regional connectivity, the government is planning to use the capital expenditure budget to upgrade and construct new 4,005 km roads.

Besides, the government would carry out preservation which covered maintenance and repair of 36,319 km of roads, build 7,682 meters of new bridges and maintain 217,076 meters of bridges throughout the country.

The government will also use the capital expenditure budget to build 175 hired modest flats and units of residential flats and a total of 48 twin blocks of their supporting infrastructure.

"We will also use the budget to finance the construction of 62,500 units of low-cost houses. To support the food resilience we will build nine reservoirs and finalize the construction of 87 lakes and rehabilitate 62 others," the president said.
