Speaking at the presidential office here on Thursday, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he was fully leaving Nazaruddin`s legal process to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"There will be no such thing as bargaining. We have not seen nor accepted any offer for bargaining. The President is a law abiding person and therefore will entrust the case fully to due process of law," he said.
Julian said until now President Yudhoyono had received no letter reported to have been sent to him by Nazaruddin.
"I checked it just now and I did not see any letter. We have received no letter," he said.
Nazaruddin, who is former treasurer of President Yudhoyono`s ruling Democrat Party, through his lawyer, OC Kaligis, has asked President Yudhoyono to leave his family alone and in exchange he pledged he would stop snaring politicians and other figures allegedly involved in his case.
Julian said President Yudhoyono would never interfere in any legal case.
"He would refer the case to the existing mechanism. If there is evidence to prove a case let it be processed. What is clear is that there would be no bargaining," he said.
Nazaruddin was caught in Cartagena, Colombia, recently after being on the run for more than three months. He left the country for Singapore on May 23 or a day before the KPK requested the justice ministry to issue a travel ban for him in connection his involvement in the bribery at the SEA Games athlete village construction project in Palembang.
Nazaruddin has made controversial statements from his hiding places in which he accused some party elite members of being involved in his case.
KPK has said Nazaruddin has not only been allegedly involved in the athlete village project but also in several other projects worth more than Rp6 trillion.
