Tripoli (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - An unverified number of tanks left the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi`s al-Aziziyah stronghold and started shooting at people around on Monday, al-Jazeera reported.

Citing rebel officers, the report said fighting continues in the al-Aziziyah area as rebel forces are trying to gain full control of the capital city.

Earlier reports said the forces loyal to Gaddafi, which now control only 15-20 percent of Tripoli, are still fighting against the rebels.

Earlier on Monday, al-Jazeera said fighting had stopped in much of the city except Gaddafi`s Bab Al-Aziziyah stronghold in the southern suburb.
