Head of the Jambi social, manpower and transmigration agency A Harris said here on Monday that the TKIs from Jambi, two cities and nine regencies, totaled 10,000.
"Most of the TKIs hailing from Jambi came from Kerinci regencies and Sungai Penuh had been employed by oil palm estates," he said.
The TKIs from Jambi already had their contracts expired and will be sent home to their native villages in December 2011.
TKIs wishing to have their contracts renewed, will be registered and sent back to Malaysia.
The recruitment and sending back to Malaysia will be carried out under coordination between the relevant government agencies and the Malaysian government.
And to prevent the sending of illegal TKIs, the city and regency social, manpower and transmigration had been told to take active part in familiarizing the people to prevent illegal TKIs.
Those wishing to become TKIs had been asked to seek information at the local social, manpower and transmigration offices by way of cooperation with government-recognized Indonesian workers recruitment companies (PJTKI).
Illegal TKIs are facing big risks, if they are caught they will not only be subjected to local laws, and they also have no working safety guarantees.(*)
