The president made the remarks in a cabinet plenary here on Tuesday to emphasize the government`s commitment to increasing its services to the people.
"Regarding the evaluation of the government`s services during the exodus of Idul Fitri travelers, I have received a report that all have been managed well but I also heard that there were new emerging problems whose solutions should be sought for," the president said.
He said that the regional governments should also be involved in seeking for solutions to the problems. The president cited as an example a short-cut road in the Nagreg areas in West Java where street vendors in the old road lodged a protest.
"There was a protest from street vendors. I checked it and found that the by-pass road which was build for three years was already correct but vendors who used to get profits could no longer get ones. So, I called on the regional government to find a solution to it," Yudhoyono said.
He ordered the relevant parties and local government to handle and solve the problem.
During the Cabinet session, the president asked the Police chief to explain to the results of evaluation on the Idul Fitri traffic management to get a clear picture of it.
"I will ask the police chief to report on the evaluation of the Idul Fitri traffic management. This is actually a routine job but it should be considered a new task that should be done better than the previous years," he said.
