Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reminded his ministers to improve their performance and carry out their state-budget-funded work plans properly so that they would achieve the targets they had set.

"We always make an evaluation of the performance of cabinet ministers, including the performance of regional governments. I want to specifically stress here the need for the efficient use of the revised 2011 state budget," the president said in remarks opening a plenary cabinet meeting here on Tuesday.

He said each ministry should absorb the budget based on their programs that had previously been made so that maximal results could be gained.

"I have repeatedly said that the government`s expenditure, particularly capital expenditure, is the most significant contributor to economic growth, besides other things such as household consumption, investment, net imports and exports," he said.

That`s why the government had set its expenditure at the amount of hundreds of trillions of rupiah with the expectation that if it was well spent it would contribute to the country`s economic growth.

He reminded the ministers that they still had four months until the end of 2011 to spend their state budget allocations on the programs they had devised.

"The unemployment and poverty rates have been cut, so if the government`s expenditure is not spent based on carefully made plans it will not boost the economy," he said.
