The grant was for procurement of medical equipment, computers and furniture for a number of locations in Kupang city and North Central Timor (TTU) distinct, according to a press release received by ANTARA here Thursday.
The medical equipment was in the form of Baby Heartbeat Monitors LCD and electric power generators for two clinics, namely Fioretti clinic in Kupang city and one clinic in Mena, TTU district.
The computers and furniture were for the tenants of three dormitories in Kefa, Manufui and Mena, which are all located in TTU district.
The medical equipment at the two clinics was expected to benefit the local people living near the clinic, so they could have access to better health services.
The Polish government's press release pointed out that good computer skills were needed by many people today and by providing the dormitories with the devices , it was hoped their tenants consisting of students would be encouraged to learn and master modern technology.
The basic idea for giving the assistance to a number of areas in East Nusa Tenggara province was derived from the experience of the Polish government before becoming a developed country which also was a beneficiary of development aid during the 90s.
With the development aid received then, Poland had the opportunity to make progress and develop.
The Polish government's main partners in delivering aid were non-governmental organizations that implement projects within the framework of bilateral assistance programs of development cooperation of Poland, including volunteer projects. (KR-LWA)
