Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The younger brother of slain businessman Nasruddin Zulkarnaen said a high-ranking figure was responsible for his brother`s death.

"Antasari Azhar was wrongly sentenced to 18 years in jail (for the murder) because I do not believe he was the mastermind," Nasruddin`s younger brother, Andi Syamsuddin, said at the South Jakarta district court here on Thursday as a witness at the judicial review session on the case of Antasari, the former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief.

Andi however declined to mention the name of the person he meant, saying he would only do it if he was guaranteed protection by the Institute of Witness and Victim Protection (LPSK).

At the court session Andi also confessed three police commissioners once came to him following his brother`s autopsy at the Gatot Subroto army hospital and told him that the murder was related to a triangular love affair.

"They came to me at around 3am, saying they were from the Metropolitan Police Command," he said.

Andi said he was surprised and wondered how they could have come to the conclusion (that it was connected to triangular love affair with Rani Juliani) so quickly.

He said two people had also come to him once introducing themselves as Elsa and Jeffry and as his brother`s friends.

The two said that before his brother died he had received a threat in cellular text message.

"I was curious and asked them to show me the message. But until now I have never received it. So I never knew the exact wording of the message," Andi said.

He said Elsa and Jeffry had also proposed Boyamin Saiman to become his lawyer to unveil the mastermind behind Nasruddin`s death.

"Boyamin claimed he had the text message as evidence but until now they have never forwarded the message to me," he said.

Antasari filed a judicial review in his last effort to get acquitted.

Nasruddin, director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, was shot in his head while he was in a car on his way home from playing golf in Tangerang, West Java.(*)
