If Yudhoyono is able to do this, I believe people will remember him as a president in the democratic reform era who did a great service to the state and nation,"
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The cabinet reshuffle or shake-up to be carried out by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will not bring change if it is done based on political considerations, a House deputy speaker said.

"There is no guarantee (that the government`s performance) will change for the better if the reshuffle is carried out based on political considerations," Deputy House Speaker Pramono Anung said here on Thursday.

He said if the president really intended to reshuffle his cabinet he had better do it. There was no need for him to listen to statements from from politicians or pay attention to anonymous letters.

Pramono who is also former secretary general of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said Yudhoyono did not need to listen to various statements, after all he would no longer appear as a presidential candidate in 2014.

"For President Yudhoyono, all he needs now is how to end his government with a better performance until 2014," Pramono said.

He said Yudhoyono should now run his government in such a way that it would provide benefit for whoever succeeded him after the next presidential election.

"If Yudhoyono is able to do this, I believe people will remember him as a president in the democratic reform era who did a great service to the state and nation," he said.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is currently formulating a cabinet reshuffle plan with Vice President Boediono.

Presidential special aide for political communication Daniel Sparingga said here on Tuesday, the president had not yet involved political parties in the process at this stage but would do so later on.

"Until now, the President has not yet involved anyone except the vice president but in time , he will also involve political parties and political parties also understand that the success of the government will also be their success," he said.(*)
