The ministries which have a deputy minister do not function properly because of unclear job description,"Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) has asked President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to clarify the new deputy minister`s job description.
Apindo central executive board general chairman Sofjan Wanandi said here on Monday that the curiosity of businessmen grouped in Apindo to know the clarity of the new deputy ministers` job description was that they were afraid that the addition of this position would impact on the length of the bureaucracy.
"Therefore the president needs to explain the clarity of the new deputy ministers` job description," Sofjan said at a discussion here on Monday.
According to him, the long and convoluted bureaucracy has long been regarded as one of inhibiting factors for investment and business activities.
He pointed out that the ministries which have a deputy minister were not functioning properly.
"The ministries which have a deputy minister do not function properly because of unclear job description," Sofjan said, expressing hope that President Yudhoyono would give them clear job description so that they could perform well.
He said the existence of ministers and deputy ministers was a combination between politician and expertise that could determine the success or the failure of a ministry.
Sofjan said that the main desire of the businessmen grouped in Apindo for the performance of the ministers and deputy ministers was in relation with working coordination among them.
He said that without a good coordination among them, it would trigger an overlapping policy implementation. (*)
