Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will discuss the issues of trade, migrant workers and education during their bilateral consultations, a presidential spokesman said.

"During a tete-a-tete between the Indonesian president and Malaysian premier they will discuss a wide range of issues such as trade, migrant workers and education cooperation," the presidential spokesman, Julian A Pasha said here on Thursday afternoon.

The two leaders would hold the annual bilateral consultations in the Mandalika resort area, West Nusa Tenggara province, shortly after a luncheon, he said.

He said the agenda of the bilateral consultations were discussed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and his Malaysian counterpart, Anifah Aman, at a meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation in Kuala Lumpur last week.

At the meeting, Marty disclosed some progress achieved by the two countries in their bilateral ties such as the signing of territorial sea border agreement.

The ministerial meeting also discussed efforts to improve the living standard of Indonesian migrant workers employed in Malaysia. In this respect, both nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the recruitment and placement of Indonesian domestic helpers in Malaysia.

The MoU contained among others an agreement between the two nations about clear procedure and criteria of recruiting and placing Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia and formation of a public learning center.

The learning center is aimed at providing education services to children of Indonesian migrant workers employed in Malaysia. The learning center is expected to be set up soon in the Malaysian state of Sabah.(*)
