Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked his ministers to communicate actively with the people through the media so that all the government`s activities in solving problems would be known and could be criticized if there were shortcomings.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting here on Wednesday evening, the president said that ministers needed to increase their communications with the people.

"I have got feedback that many people do not know what is done by the government and how it settles its problems. There are many things that our media does not know much about. Our media does not always publish what the government is doing and it is just the right of the media," he said.

He said that state officials should increase the effectiveness of their communications with the people, so that they would see realities about what was good or bad and what was to be achieved.

The president ordered coordinating ministers to actively disseminate information every week on what had been or was being done, what problem was being handled and how the government solved it.(*)
