Jakarta (ANTARA News) - After the government gave the green light to state power firm PT PLN for gas imports, this time it is the turn of the Upstream Oil and Gas Executive Agency (BP Migas) to issue an approval.

This was stated by BP Migas Security and Formality Public Relations Chief Pradnyana in Jakarta Monday in connection with PLN`s prospects of importing gas as it considered cheaper that its domestic price.

"It is alright to import gas, as it is an imported downstream facility, but PLN must first have an LNG receiving terminal," Gde.

Gde said after all gas imports are always cheaper than local price, and gas imports have always been PLN`s business.

On a different occasion, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Widjajono Partowidagdo said the plan to import gas by PLN would be the right thing to do considering that domestic supplies are far from adequate.

"As long as it would increase PLN`s performance, why not?" he said..(*)
