"My children, you are the future leaders of our beloved nation and therefore I want you to widen your horizon," the vice president told the students of Taruna Nusantara High School at his office here on Tuesday.
Vice President Boediono pointed out that a leader was absolutely required to have wider horizon and therefore he called on the Taruna Nusantara High School students and the younger generation in general to widen their horizon in addition to improving their academic achievement.
"A leader should have a wider horizon, good attitude, and high academic achievement," the vice president said adding that a broader insight should have been instilled since adolescent period by reading books of history and biography of both Indonesian and world`s leaders.
According to him, reading history books and biography of Indonesian and other world`s leaders would inspire the younger generation.
Therefore the vice present expressed hop that the schools in Indonesia would play their role to broaden the insight of the younger generation.
"It is very important for the schools in Indonesia to broaden the horizon of the students, to mold their character, and to instill the sense of honesty, sincerity, mutual help, and love of the nation," the vice president said.
