"We must maintain the existing conducive atmosphere in our country. I hope employers and workers can create conducive relations so that they will not disrupt our investment atmosphere. They must find a win-win solution," Hatta said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief economic minister Hatta Rajasa called on the people to keep the country`s investment atmosphere conducive by not repeating a tollroad blockade that had happened recently as a sequel of an ongoing workers-employers dispute.

"We must maintain the existing conducive atmosphere in our country. I hope employers and workers can create conducive relations so that they will not disrupt our investment atmosphere. They must find a win-win solution," he said here on Friday.

He said the country`s investment atmosphere had started to improve as shown by the raising of its debt rating by Fitch and Moody`s ratings agencies recently.

Therefore, he hoped a three-hour blockade of the Jakarta-Cikampek tollroad by workers during a recent demonstration would not recur.

"It is not easy to get an investment grade and so after we got it it must not be damaged by incidents like that," he said.

Traffic on the tollroad between Cikampek and Jakarta stopped for three hours as thousands of workers blocked the tollroad access to the industrial zone in Bekasi.

The workers demanded the Association of Employers (Apindo) to drop its lawsuit against the recently set minimum wage for the district.

The deputy chairman of the Bekasi chapter of the association, Darwoto, said there had been a difference of perception between his side and the workers leading to the closure of access to the industrial zone.

"We deplore the incident which was actually caused by misperception between Apindo and the workers with regard to the schedule of the revocation of the lawsuit at the Administrative Court in Bandung," he said.

He said the workers thought the revocation should have been done on Thursday (January 19) morning while Apindo would do it in the afternoon.(*)
