Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA News) - Soekarno-Hatta customs officers have confiscated 442 grams of methamphetamine inserted in a painting delivery package from New Delhi, India, a custom officer said.

"We also took into custody a couple who were to receive the paintings where 442 grams of methamphetamine were inserted," Prosecution and Investigation Section Chief of Soekarno-Hatta Airport`s Customs and Excise Office, Gatot Sugeng Wibowo, told ANTARA on Monday.

He said the methamphetamine was specially designed to be inserted in the painting in order to fool the officers.

Gatot said that besides the methamphetamine, the sender also inserted another type of narcotic, namely 536 grams of levometorfan.

He said the two types of narcotics which were confiscated by the officers were worth Rp2.49 billion.

The recipients of the package were an Indonesian housewife J Kamla (24) and her husband K David (35), a South African national who lived in Bekasi, West Java.

Earlier on Friday, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Customs also foiled an attempt to smuggle in 1.006 kg of methamphetamine crystal from the United Arab Emirates. (*)
