"As many as 28 high-ranking officials, including 18 United Indonesia Cabinet ministers will attend the commemoration of the National Press Day on February 9, 2012 in Jambi," spokesman of the Jambi provincial administration Natres Ulfi said here on Tuesday.
Besides the high-ranking officials, five ambassadors from Tunisia, Vietnam, India, China and Timor Leste would also attend the event, he said.
He said a number of local and foreign press figures and four representatives from each of 33 provincial branches of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) would also take part in the event.
Chief of the event`s regional organizing committee Syahrasaddin said preparations for the event was nearing completion.
A series of activities to highlight the National Press Day began on February 5 and would end on February 14. The activities included a press exhibition and Jambi golden jubilee expo 2012, he said.
He said some of the event participants particularly those from the rest of the country had already arrived in Jambi to attend a series of activities.
"Hopefully, the event will proceed smoothly and successfully so that it will benefit the press, the community and the region," he said. (*)
