Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Vice President Boediono has denied a rumor that he intends to resign from his present position.

"I see a big question mark on your forehead, and I am not stepping down from the vice presidential post," Boediono told the press at his office here on Friday.

The rumor was denied by the vice president a moment before receiving United Development Party (PPP) central executive board (DPP) chief Suryadharma Ali.

Meanwhile, a PPP central executive board associate chairman, Lukman Hakim Syaefuddin, said there was no need to believe the rumor.

"There is also no need to assess this rumor, it`s only a rumor. The vice president`s integrity is beyond question," said Lukman, who is also vice chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR).

PPP General Secretary M Romahurmuziy said it was too naive for senior state officials to resign on the basis of dubious allegations.

Similar rumors about the vice president intending to resign also circulated among the public in 2010 when the Bank Century case was being discussed in the House of Representatives.

The rumors had it that the vice president had sent in a resignation letter to the President, and the same thing happened in 2012.(*)
