"Satgas TKI Chairman Maftuh Basyuni will select the members of the team which is most likely to leave for Saudi Arabia in March," Humphrey Djemat, the spokesman, said here Monday.
He, however, will go to Saudi earlier before the team.
In Saudi Arabia, the team will monitor court sessions on Tuti`s case and approach the family of the man killed by Tuti. The only way to free Tuti from execution is forgiveness from the victim`s family, he said.
The team will also evaluate the performance of lawyers hired to give Tuti legal assistance.
The team is supported by officials of the foreign affairs ministry, the legal and human rights ministry, and the coordinating ministry for political, legal, and security affairs.
Djemat quoted Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Gatot Abdullah Mansyur as saying that currently the Suadi Court is reviewing the documents on Tuti`s murder conviction.
"The documents are being reviewed in the court of first and final instance to see whether there is new evidence or novum. If it exists, the death penalty verdict could be altered," he said.
The team will discuss the possibility of a novum with Tuti`s lawyers.
Tuti Tursilawati from Cikeusik, Majalengka was sent by PT Arunda Bayu to Suud Malhaq Alutaibi, Thaif, Saudi Arabia, on September 5, 2009 as a housemaid.
On May 10, 2010, Tuti killed her male employer by hitting him with a wooden stick when he tried to rape her. She later tried to flee, but Saudi police arrested her in Thaif and, since then, she has been in jail.
The victim`s family had since asked the Saudi court to impose the death penalty on Tuti.(*)
