Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is to engaged the national scout movement in its efforts to promote tourism awareness among people, the ministry`s chief said.

"My ministry and the national scout movement will cooperate in providing tourism-related training to scout members in Indonesia," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said after signing an MoU with National Scout Movement Chief Azrul Azwar here on Monday.

She said the trainings for scout members would be held at tourism objects in Indonesia with the aim of raising the participants` awareness about the tourism objects.

"The trainings are expected not only to give tourism knowledge to the participants, but also to give them tourism-related skills that can be useful in the future," she said adding the collaboration with the National Scout Movement would last five years.

Meanwhile, National Scout Chief Azrul Azwar expressed appreciation for the collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy saying that tourism was a sector that was contributing significantly to the economy.

"The trainings sponsored by the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry will improve tourism awareness among scout members as well as increase their knowledge and skiils in the tourism sector,` he said.

The Indonesian Scout Movement has 21 million members living across the country.
