Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The presidential team of doctors successfully completed Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono`s gall bladder surgery, at the Gatot Subroto Military Hospital on March 16.

Spokesman of the presidential team of doctors, Dr. Aris Wibudi, said the surgery started at 8 am on Friday and was completed in an hour.

Dr. Aris noted that the presidential medical team of nine doctors, successfully removed Ani Yudhoyono`s gall bladder with stones in it through three holes measuring 0.5 centimeter in diameter.

"From 8 to 9 am this morning, the presidential medical team operated on First Lady Ani Yudhoyono to remove her gall bladder with some stones in it," Aris said.

He mentioned that the operation ran smoothly without any problems as the First Lady was in a stable condition while the surgery was being carried out.

"Now that the operation has been completed, the First Lady requires further treatment for two days and will have to follow a low fat diet for two weeks," Aris said, adding that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was present during the surgery.

Dr. Aris had earlier said on Friday morning that it was going to be a big surgery, but such operations had frequently been carried out by the presidential team of doctors at the same hospital.

Ani Yudhoyono was admitted to the Gatot Subroto Military Hospital at 10 am on March 15, in preparation for the surgery on Friday.

Aris added that the presidential medical team discovered the stones in Ani`s gall bladder when the First Lady had undergone a general check-up recently.

In late December 2011, the First Lady was treated at the same hospital for typhoid and was discharged on New Year`s Day after a five-day treatment. (*)
