Cikeas, Bogor, W Java (ANTARA News) - The chief patron of the ruling Democrat Party, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, said there were movements seeking to topple the government through an undemocratic way.

He said in his directives before party cadres in a meeting at his private residence in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, Sunday evening that the movement wished to see the present government to end before 2014.

"There are movements seeking the fall of the SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) government before 2014 done by certain group based on illogical reasons who actually would not fight by way of democracy," he said.

Yudhoyono who is also the country`s president said the movement is being carried out by those who would not want to participate in a political competition fairly.

He meanwhile expressed appreciation to his political rivals who have consistently criticized his government through democratic channels and with political ethics.

"I appreciate my political rivals that have criticized through democratic channels," he said.

He said in spite of the movement he would continue to govern constitutionally and use political ethics consistent with the mandate the public has given to him.

"With regard to the threat from the strange group I will remain safeguarding the constitution, continue to govern and promote the livelihood of the people. You need not worry any movement and action against the law will always be dealt with firmly by the state. I will carry out the tasks and take on any kind of threat. That is the mandate that I have received," he said.

He said "let them hold such an idea or a view. What is important is continue to concentrate on your tasks. Carry out your duties as best as you can."

After listening to the directives from the President the meeting contined behind closed doors. (*)
