Industry leaders will review data supporting use of silver in a range of dressings in a live webcast from Seoul, South Korea

ConvaTec, a world-leading developer and marketer of innovative medical technologies for community and hospital care, today announced that it will host a live international webcast to review data on the effectiveness of silver in wound dressings. The webinar will be held at 16:30 (KST) on Monday, 28 May 2012 from the ASAN Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea.

The webcast will include data demonstrating the effectiveness of silver in a range of wound dressing technologies. During the webcast, global experts on wound care will review considerations related to the use of silver dressings and the impact that dressing technology choice can have on clinical outcomes. In vitro data related to different dressings will also be presented to help clinicians make informed decisions about the optimal dressings for use in a range of wound types and patient profiles.

The webcast will be hosted by chairperson and moderator Joon Pio Hong, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A., Department Chair & Associate Professor, Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Ulsan University College of Medicine, ASAN Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea. In addition to Dr. Joon, the program will also include a review of data and clinical perspectives from global leaders in wound care including:

Xiaobing Fu, M.D.m, Ph.D, Academician (Chinese Academy of Engineering, Division of Health and Medicine), President of the College of Life Science, the General Hospital of PLA, Directory of the Key Laboratory of Wound Repair and Regeneration of PLA, Trauma Center of Postgraduate Medical College, will present an evidence-based overview of topical silver-impregnated dressings and the importance of the dressing technology.

Philip Bowler, MPhil, BSc, FIBMS, Director, Infection Prevention, Research and Development, ConvaTec Wound Therapeutics, Deeside, United Kingdom, will review in vitro data of dressing conformability on anti-microbial activity of silver-containing wound dressings.

The webinar will include a live question and answer session following the presentation.
