Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Russian jet fighter manufacturer Sukhoi plans to exhibit its first-ever passenger plane called Sukhoi Superjet 100 here on Wednesday, according to the Russian embassy here.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100, also known as SSJ-100, will make a flight demonstration before a number of representatives from the transportation ministry, national airline companies, and the Russian embassy here, the embassy said in a statement on Tuesday.

The activity is part of the airline company Sukhoi Civil Aircraft`s road shows in a number of Southeast and Central Asian countries, the statement added.

The aircraft will also be displayed in Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam.

SSJ-100 is the first passenger aircraft developed by Sukhoi, which has been famous for producing military jet fighters. The plane has a carrying capacity of 98 passengers. The operating range for the basic version is 3,048 km and for the long range version is 4,578 km.

The plane, which was flown for the first time in May 2008, received a certificate from the Russian certification institute (IAC AR) in January 2011 and a certificate from the European flight security agent a month later.

The first series of the plane were bought by the Armenian national airline company, Armavi, in April 2011.

Indonesia`s Kartika Airline had reportedly put an order for 15 SSJ-100s last year. Regional airline company Sky Aviation, too, has bought 12 SSJ-100 at a total cost of US$380.4 million.

SSJ-100 was designed in 2000 and was produced seven years later. (*)
