"The trade ministry has appointed Bengkulu province to represent Indonesia in the expo."Bengkulu (ANTARA News) - Bengkulu province will represent Indonesia in China-ASEAN Expo due to take place in the Chinese province of Guangxi-Nanning in September this year, a local official said.
"The trade ministry has appointed Bengkulu province to represent Indonesia in the expo," the second assistant to the secretary of Bengkulu province, Nasyah said here Tuesday.
He made the remarks after attending a meeting held by the directorate general of national export development to familiarize the public with the expo.
The meeting was also designed to confirm Bengkulu`s participation in the expo, he said.
"The participants of the meeting attended by a number of regional officials agreed that the expo is a challenge for Bengkulu to introduce itself to the world," he said.
At the expo, the province would promote its potentials in the plantation, tourism, fishery, husbandry, and forestry sectors, he said.
Lukman, chief of the commission II of the Bengkulu provincial legislative council (DPRD), said the trade ministry`s offer was a challenge.
"As we will represent the country in the expo, we must make the best possible preparations. If necessary, the provincial secretary or government will coordinate the province`s participation in the expo," he said.
