Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed deep condolences over the crash of Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 plane in Mount Salak in West Java on Wednesday.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s special aide for international affairs Teuku Faizasyah said to ANTARA here on Thursday night President Putin conveyed his sympathy to President Yudhoyono during phone conversation at 10.30 p.m.

On the occasion, President Yudhoyono also expressed his deep condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims in the incident.

During the talks President Putin had offered to help in the identification of victims and also the wreckage with regard to knowing the cause of the incident.

"President Yudhoyono welcomed the offer and had contacted the offices concerned to immediately implement the cooperation. The Russian and Indonesian embassies have been contacted to follow it up," Faizasyah said.

Efforts to evacuate the victims are still being made while the location of the wreckage has been discovered.

The plane carried some 46 passengers, including a number of domestic airline company representatives and journalists when it crashed during a demonstration flight. (*)
