Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested former director general of electricity and energy utilization Jacobus Purwono suspected of involvement in two graft cases at the energy and mineral resources between 2007 and 2009.

Jacobus was being held at the Salemba detention center in East Jakarta for 20 days to facilitate the investigation of his case, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said here Thursday.

He was named a suspect in alleged graft cases related to procurement of solar home system in 2007-2008 and procurement and installation of solar cells in 2009, Johan said.

Jacobus, along with commitment-making official Ridwan Sanjaya was named a suspect in a graft case related to the procurement and installation of solar cells, the KPK spokesman said.

Jacobus was suspected of conspiring with a vendor to mark up the price which inflicted Rp150 billion in losses to the state, he said.

In the alleged graft case related to the solar home system, Jacobus was named a suspect, along with Kosasih as a commitment-making official, he said.

Kosasih and Jacobus were believed to have received Rp4.6 billion in cash from a partner, causing the state to suffer Rp119 billion in losses.(*)
