Jakarta, Indonesia, May 11, 2012 (ANTARA) - More than 30 participants in 20 Porsche cars took part in the Porsche Club Indonesia Tour de Yogyakarta. The three day event, held from May 11 to May 13, 2012 was organized mainly by Porsche Club Indonesia and Porsche Centre Jakarta. Participants came along way from Jakarta, Yogyakarta and even Surabaya.
Patrick Widjaja, President of Porsche Club Indonesia was delighted with how the event panned out. He said, "This the first time the club has created an event outside of Jakarta and I am hoping that we can create more active driving events on an annual basis. Such events should build a strong camaraderie among the members, as they get to spend a couple of days with each other. I would like to see our friendships and networks to go beyond our passion for Porsches. Long distance drive in a Porsche is a true enjoyment for the Porsche enthusiasts like us. What better way to show our passion for the car than to drive them to one of the Seven Wonders of the World."
The event saw participations from the entire Porsche models, ranging from the iconic Porsche 911 from as far as 993 Carrera S Cabriolet, to 911 GT3, 911 GT3 RS, including the latest 911, as well as Cayenne, Panamera and the mid-engined Boxster and Cayman.
They event was supported by Eurokars Group of Companies, Porsche Showroom Surabaya, Hyarta, Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, Permata Bank, SHC, Phillips, Eurolift, BQ Mining coal, Quantum, Garuda food, Auto Tune, Glamour and PT. MUS.
Porsche Club Indonesia Tour de Yogyakarta - The Event
The tour started on May 11th2012. Participants flew from Jakarta and Surabaya to Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta. A welcome dinner was prepared for all participants by the pool side of Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, where a short presentation was given by Hyarta's representative. Having a pleasure in owning Porsches, Porsche Club Indonesia has also made a social responsibility as one of its core values. They feel that it is essential to contribute to the society especially to children as they are the future of our country. Porsche Club Indonesia donated to Gotong Royong orphanage, where the fund given will be allocated to support the children living at the orphanage home.
On Day 2, at 7.30 am sharp, all the Porsches that have been sent all the way from Jakarta and Surabaya were parked at the front lobby of Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, waiting for their owners to drive them to Manohara Hotel for breakfast. Having breakfast accompanied with the beautiful scenery of Borobudur was an exceptional experience. The landmark destination is the Borobudur Temple. The tour service has been prepared for all participants to explore and gain more information about Borobudur Temple.
Art Village Tour was the next place to be visited according to the program. This time, instead of driving in Porsche cars, the Club members took rides in Andongs, a two-wheeled carriage drawn by one horse, a famous attraction in Yogyakarta. After an exciting morning, the tour was continued by driving Porsches to a very unique venue for lunch, which was at Pelataran Resort. It is a resort that offers an outstanding view of the Borobudur Temple, Mount Merapi, Menoreh Hill and surrounded by lush teak forests.
A short rest at the hotel was a perfect way to recharge energy for the evening event, held in one of the most outstanding temple which is the Prambanan Temple. The three day event ended with a farewell dinner at this venue. The group departed to their hometowns on the next day.
