"One of Aceh`s commodities exported through Belawan port is coffee from Gayo highland."Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - The Aceh Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said exports from the province through North Sumatra reached 1.2 million US dollars, one pct from the area`s exports.
"One of Aceh`s commodities exported through Belawan port is coffee from Gayo highlands," BPS chief of Aceh Syech Suhaimi said in Banda Aceh Friday.
He said the coffee had been exported to the US in February.
He also said that Aceh`s exports in February 2012 reached 117.3 million US dollars, a drop of 34.6 pct from January`s 117.5 million US dollars.
He said the decline in the exports followed the low export transactions in the second month of this year.
Suhaimi said oil and gas exports in February 2012 dropped 35 pct to 107.5 million US dollars.
A similar decline also took place in non-oil/gas commodities by 28 pct to 8.6 million US dollars.
The total exports from the province which has a population of 4.6 million in February 2012 reached 175 thousand tons.
He added that Aceh`s balance of trade in February 2012 reached a surplus of 113 million US dollars, but it was a 35 pct decline from January the same year.
