Azzam el-Ahmed told "Voice of Palestine" Radio that the Muslim Brotherhood, Morsi was its candidate, told Fatah party that "it wants to finalize the Palestinian reconciliation."
"We are awaiting the Egyptian leadership to finish from the transitional term and the transfer of authority to the new president in order to resume the contacts on reconciliation and positively reflect on it," el-Ahmed said as quoted by Xinhua.
Fatah and Islamic Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip, had reached Egyptian-brokered understanding, in addition to the reconciliation understandings reached in Qatar on February 6.
Leaders of the two movements had held their last three meetings to agree on operating the Palestinian Central Elections Commission in Gaza and form the transitional unity government headed by Abbas.
The declaration of forming the new unity government was expected to be made in Cairo on June 20, but it was postponed until the end of the Egyptian presidential elections.
