About 60 percent of the 250 students leaving for the Netherlands have received scholarships.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A total of 250 Indonesian students are preparing to pursue further studies in the Netherlands, after attending a pre-departure briefing at the Erasmus Huis, Jakarta.
"The aim of the briefing, held on July 14, was to provide support for Indonesian students who will continue their studies in the Netherlands," according to a press release from Nuffic Neso Indonesia, received by ANTARA News here on Thursday.
The session was attended by the Kingdom of the Netherlands Ambassador Tjeerd F. de Zwaan and Nuffic Neso director Indonesia Mervin Baker.
Mervin congratulated all Indonesian students leaving for the Netherlands, saying Dutch education was recognised for its superior quality all over the world.
He expressed hope that the international experience gained by Indonesian students in the Netherlands would not only aid their personal and professional development, but also improve intercultural understanding and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
Indonesian alumni from Dutch educational institutions were also present at the event to share their experiences about living and studying in the Netherlands.
Among the subjects discussed were culture shock, adapting to different teaching and learning processes, interacting with faculty and other international students.
About 60 percent of the 250 students leaving for the Netherlands have received scholarships from StuNed, NFP, Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS), Spirit, Featured, Higher Education-Neso, Communications and Informatics, Erasmus Mundus, Dutch universities and other institutions, while the rest are those who will attend school in the Netherlands at their own expense.

The Netherlands is one of the favourite destinations for international students.
According to data from www.nuffic.nl, the Netherlands received foreign students from 61 countries in 2011.
Based on data from the Dutch Immigration Service (IND), 1,198 Indonesian students went to the Netherlands in 2011 to pursue further studies. However, the figure did not include doctoral students.
