The forecast is lower than the government`s prediction of 6.8 percent
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Bank Indonesia predicted the country`s economy would grow moderately 6.3 percent in 2013 amid global recession.

"The forecast is lower than the government`s prediction of 6.8 percent," deputy governor of the central bank Hartadi A Sarwono said here on Friday.

This year the central bank`s prediction for the country`s economic growth is 6.1%-6.2%.

Hartadi said the central bank is less optimistic as the global economy has failed to recover as expected.

"IMF has even revised down its forecast of the global economic growth for 2013," he said.

The International Monetary Fund said its forecast of the global economic growth was revised down to 3.5 percent this year and 3.9 percent in 2013 respectively down from 3.6 percent and 4.1 percent set previously .

Hartadi said Indonesia has begun to feel the bite of the world economic slowdown.

IMF said the European economic ill has spread to China and India two new major markets for Indonesian commodities.
