No reports of any damage or casualties resulting from the disaster.
Ternate (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale shook North Maluku at around 12:05 a.m. local time on Monday, the National Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency said.

The quake`s epicenter was located at a depth of 88 kilometers below the sea level, 2.2 degrees northern latitude and 126.92 degrees eastern longitude, 115 kilometers northwest of West Halmahera, the agency`s official website said.

There have been no reports of any damage or casualties resulting from the disaster, Hasim Yusuf, the head of the Ternate Disaster Mitigation Office said.

The earthquake did not have potential to trigger a tsunami because its epicenter was located very deep, he added.
