Yangon (ANTARA News) - Myanmar on Monday carried out a major cabinet reshuffle, reassigning nine ministers to new posts, the Ministry of Information said, quoting an order of the President`s Office.

Former Minister of Industry U Soe Thein, former Minister of Rail Transportation U Aung Min, former Minister of Finance and Revenue U Hla Tun and former Minister of National Planning and Economic Development U Tin Naing Thein were all reassigned as Ministers at the President`s Office.

Former Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Aung Kyi was reappointed as Minister of Information, replacing U Kyaw Hsan who was reassigned as Minister of Cooperatives.

U Ohn Myint who concurrently held two former posts of Minister of Cooperatives and Minister of Livestock and Fisheries was reappointed as Minister of Livestock and Fisheries.

Former Minister of Science and Technology U Aye Myint was renamed as Minister of Industry, replacing U Soe Thein.

Former Minister of Hotels and Tourism and former Minister of Sports U Tint Hsan was reassigned to remain as Minister of Sports.

The major reshuffle of President U Thein Sein`s cabinet since he took office in March 2011 came 12 days after U Tin Aung Myint Oo, who resigned as one of the two Vice Presidents, was replaced by U Nyan Tun, who was former navy chief.
