According to the American Embassy in Jakarta, the purpose of Hillary`s visit is to boost US cooperation with Indonesia in the economic, environmental and security sectors.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta Police have deployed 1,500 police officers to step up security ahead of the scheduled arrival of United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport here on Monday evening.

"The security measures are the same as those taken during the visit of other state officials to our country," Jakarta Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said.

"The security personnel would come from the National Police, Indonesian Military, and the US Department of State Security," he added.

The 67th Secretary of State is scheduled to arrive at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry at Pejambon, Jakarta, after visiting a few other places in the city.

"A number of traffic personnel have been stationed along the routes through which the US Secretary of State would pass in order to ensure there is no problem," said Adjunct Senior Commissioner Wahyono, the Deputy Chief of Jakarta Police`s Traffic Corps.

Hillary, who is also the wife of 42nd US president Bill Clinton, is scheduled to meet with senior Indonesian officials to discuss the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership and other global issues.

Hillary is also expected pay a visit to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono after attending a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa on Monday evening.(*)
