Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian currency closed four points stronger at 9,576 to the US dollar on Wednesday afternoon after fluctuating in mid day trading.

The currency gained 20 points in morning session on Wednesday to reach the level of 9,560 but weakened to 9,580 in mid day trading before gaining 4 points at the closing trade.

The currency gained slightly in the closing session on Wednesday on limited buying action amid economic slowdown reported in Europe, analysts said.

Decline recorded in Swiss gross domestic product and British construction index gave negative sentiment, PT Indosurya Asset Management`s researcher Reza Priyambada said here on Wednesday.

Earlier, European Central Bank Governor Mario Draghi boosted the market when it announced plan to buy bonds from secondary market.

However, the boost was dampened with Australian central bank saying about threat from global economic slowdown.(*)
