Pertamina is the host and is representing Indonesia."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian state oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) will host the 25th World Liquefied Petroleum Gas Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali, from September 11-13.

"Businessmen, producers and stakeholders will attend the annual event," Pertamina Marketing and Commercial Director Hanung Budya said in a press statement issued on Tuesday.

"The forum is the second of its kind held in Bali. Pertamina is the host and is representing Indonesia," he added.

Vice President Boediono is scheduled to open the forum on Wednesday.

According to Hanung, the three-day conference is of strategic significance for Indonesia as it will get to demonstrate the country`s success in implementing the kerosene-to-gas conversion programme.

"The kerosene-to-gas conversion programme is a global landmark because no any other country in the world has been able to implement it," he explained.

In a relatively short time, Hanung noted, Indonesia was able to reduce its consumption of subsidized kerosene which used to cost the government Rp70 trillion annually.

Through the programme, Indonesia reaped three benefits at the same time, namely reducing kerosene subsidy, lowering poverty rate and creating clean energy, he pointed out.

The forum also serves as a platform to present Indonesia as a role model in implementing a kerosene-to-gas conversion programme, Hanung said.

"We will do our best. Hopefully, the forum will be beneficial for the Indonesian nation because it promotes positive values and is being attended by thousands of participants," he added.
