The Jakarta`s contingent with its 599 athletes participating in the event grabbed 110 gold medals, 101 silver and 112 bronze.
West Java became runner-up by grabbing 99 gold medals, 79 silver and 101 bronze. West Java province will host the 19th PON in 2016.
In the meantime, the 2008 overall champion East Java at this year`s event only gained 86 gold, 86 silver and 84 bronze.
In addition, Riau which hosted the 18th PON only reached the 6th level of the sport standings.
At the 18th PON, the Jakarta`s dream came true as it is in line with governor Fauzi Bowo`s expectation when he saw off the Jakarta`s 599 athletes on Saturday.
"The Jakarta sports contingent is the biggest one and I hope they also prove they are the best," Bowo, who is popularly called `Foke`, said during his address to the departing athletes, who competed in 39 sporting events.
Around 7,000 athletes and 2,700 officials from 33 provinces across the country took part in the National Sports Week.
