"We use Pertamina as the supplier of Toyota Motor Oil (TMO) and so it is all domestically produced," TAM marketing director Joko Trisanyoto said at the launch of TMO Synthetic Diesel on the sidelines of the 20th Indonesia International Motor Show here on Tuesday.
He said as Toyota car distributor and sole agent in Indonesia TAM is allowed by the Toyota Motor Corp to choose an oil vendor for cooperation although TAM also cooperates with other oil vendors such as Idemitsu of Japan.
"We have chosen Pertamina because Pertamina has the best oil basis and supplying capacity," he said.
TMC, he said, has its own oil standards and specifications for cars it produces.
"Like in the case of Toyota shock breaker which we order from vendors based on the Toyota standard and specifications we also do the same with oil," he said.
He said starting this year he would also market TMO to general car service centers and parts shops. "So far we market it through dealers who then supply it to our official service shops," he said.
He said he did not know yet the kiloliter capacity of the oil to be produced by Pertamina.
TAM has so far markteed Full Synthetic SAE 5W-30 API SM/GF-4, Synthetic Formula SAE 10W-40 API SM, Original Formula SAE 10W-30 API SL and Original Formula for Diesel SAE 15W-40 API CH-4.
Joko said TMO is the best quality and fits with Toyota cars. "Therefore we produce oils which are adapted to present Toyota car technology," he said.
