"Nine people have formally been detained in connection with terror activities by the Al-Qaeda Indonesia group. They are Badri Hartono, Rudi Kurnia Putra, Kamidi, Fajar Novianto, Barkah Nawah Saputra, Triyatno, Arif Pamungkas, Joko Priyanto, alias Joko Jihad, and Wendi, alias Hasan," said the head of National Police public information bureau, Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar, here on Monday.
"Eight of them will be charged with violating Law No. 15 on Terrorism, while the other one, who is a school student named Fajar Novianto, will be charged with violating Law No. 9 of 2009," he added.
"The eight people have been held at the Mobile Brigade police detention center in Kelapa Dua, while Wendi is still in Palu, Central Sulawesi, and undergoing questioning," Boy stated.
Wendi was caught in Pantaloan on September 27 and is believed to have participated in a terrorist training camp in Poso, Central Sulawesi, under the leadership of Santoso.
Wendi is also believed to be one of the bomb assemblers in the group. "Wendi has actively participated in the terrorist training camp organized by Santoso in Palu during the conflicts in Poso. Santoso is still at large and on the wanted list," Boy said.
"Based on the results of investigation so far, the bombs assembled by Wendi contain nitro-glycerine. Bombs with such contents can cause huge blasts," he noted.
