Kupang (ANTARA News) - Numerous European businessmen are scheduled to arrive in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) at end of October to join a round-the-world Blue Water Rally, according to the local Creative Economy and Tourism Department spokesman, Eden Klakik.

"Travelling by yachts, the European businessmen will make the East Nusa Tenggara provincial capital of Kupang their entry point before proceeding to various tourist destinations in the province," Klakik noted here on Wednesday.

He explained that the businessmen were getting their travel documents processed in Darwin in Australia and subsequently, the NTT provincial government would be notified about the schedule of their arrival.

"They will be in Kupang for several days before continuing their rally to other tourist destinations," he said, adding that the destinations would be decided after the schedule of their arrival was fixed.

However, he pointed out that the two destinations to have been confirmed so far are Kupang and Labuan Bajo at the western tip of Flores Island, from where they shall go to the Komodo National Park.

Klakik said that the businessmen from Europe would explore business opportunities in East Nusa Tenggara, especially the regions with promising tourism potential.

He added that in Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat district, the European businessmen would like to invest in the tourism sector through the provision of hotels and accommodations.

With the establishment of a regional administration, access to Labuan Bajo by land, sea and air continues to be enhanced.

Numerous economic and tourism developments are now in either advanced planning stages or under construction in West Manggarai.

Labuan Bajo is the launching point for trips to Komodo Island and Rinca Island to see the Komodo dragons.

The surrounding sea is idyllic for diving and snorkelling with Seraya Island being a great location in the vicinity.

Labuan Bajo can be accessed by ferry from Sumbawa or by public bus from Ende and Maumere. There are also daily flights between Labuan Bajo and Denpasar.
