"Indonesia will also send agronomists to Nigeria."Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Nigeria have agreed to increase cooperation in food security, according to Agriculture Minister Suswono.
"Nigeria will send some personnel to undergo agricultural training in Indonesia," he said on the sidelines of the D-8 meeting on food security in Senggigi, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Friday.
"Indonesia will also send agronomists to Nigeria, in return for training Nigerian agricultural officers and farmers here," Suswono added.
He stated that Indonesia had also signed an agricultural cooperation agreement with Turkey, a fellow D8 member state.
"The cooperation is a part of D8`s efforts to tackle the food problem facing the world because of climate change," Suswono explained.
The third D-8 meeting on food security discussed issues relating to food supply and food prices, as well as agricultural cooperation among member countries.
The meeting was aimed at finding solutions to the food security problems faced by member states. It also assessed the implementation of the measures proposed during the previous D-8 meeting. ***2***
