Police are ready to hand over the case and the suspects to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), police`s chief spokesman Brig.Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said.
The decision is in respond to KPK`s request and in compliance with the instruction of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Boy said here on Monday.
The police and KPK have been at loggerhead over rights to investigate the US$198 million corruption case involving a number of police officers including two generals.
KPK already named four suspects including former chief of the traffic corps Insp.Gen. Djoko Susilo and his deputy Brig. Didik Purnomo and two civilians.
Almost immediately the police announced that they had named three of the KPK`s suspects as their own suspects but not including Djoko.
Police even moved faster by putting their suspects in custody.
The move drew strong criticism that police are seeking to protect more police officers from being dragged into the case.
The conflict culminated with police seeking to arrest a KPK`s investigator Comr. Novel Baswedan on charge of murder in 2004.
Novel, a police officer on loan to KPK, is heading a KPK`s team of investigators for the driving simulator case.
The attempt to arrest Novel came only a few hours after his team finished grilling Djoko, who is charged with accepting bribe.
The conflict forced the president to step in and order police to hand over the driving simulator case to KPK.
